Cheam Marcuda are this years Octopus League Champions. Going in to the last of the 6 rounds the Cheam swimmers had already amassed sufficient points that they went into the final gala as Champions Elect. They were awarded the shield after the warm up session.
In this, the 6th round Cheam secured the runner up position losing narrowly to Croydon by a mere 6 points.
The League win was then celebrated by a very enjoyable meal out to reward the swimmers.
Well done Cheam!
Well it is that time of year again. As normal with the start of the school holidays the training progamme is scaled back to one session a week.

Well Done to all the Cheam Marcuda swimmers who took part in the London Borough Of Sutton Junior Championship Gala at Westcroft Leisure Centre on Friday 7th March.
The gala is open to all swimmers in Years 4/5/6. There were some great performances by the younger members of the squad, many taking part for the first time.It is a time graded gala so medals are awarded to the first three places in the A, B and C grade categories. In total we won 2 Gold, 8 Silver and 3 Bronze medals across the various categories. Both Poppy and Etti gained “A” times in their swims.
The swimmers who took part and swam so well were:

Ethan Ford, Sam Houghton, Owain Garrett, Mitch Keay, Taylor Holding & Liam Sale.
Saturday 22nd March saw the second round of this 6 round league, with Cheam Marcuda swimmers taking their second consecutive win. There were some very close races between Cheam, Bromley, Croydon and Edenbridge.
Throughout the gala there were only a handful of points separating the top 4 teams. Cheam went into the last few races pulling out all the stops and taking the lead.
The noise from inside Beckenham Spa was amazing with all the teams wanting to win.
1st places went to: Tezel, Joe, Agnes, Ethan, Emily and Hannah
1st time to the league was Etti
Well swum everyone.

It has now been confirmed that the Pool at Cheam will be closed for major works to the roof.
Currently it is scheduled to close on 17th March 2014 until December 2014 to enable these works to take place.
Both club nights currently at Cheam will be moved to Westcroft Leisure Centre in Carshalton during the repairs.
Tuesday session times will remain the same with widths swimmers at 6:30-7pm, lengths from 7-8pm and squad swimming from 8-9:30pm
Friday session times will change slightly, as we were unable to secure the same start time, however we have been offered an hour and a half for our session, during which we will be ale to offer extra training on starts and turns and extra squad training. The Friday session time will be from 7:00-8:30pm and swimmers who do not wish to swim for the whole 1.5 hour session do not have to stay in for the duration of the session.
All other sessions will remain unaffected by the closure and will run as normal.
Of course we know these arrangements are not ideal for everyone, and if you feel this may make attendance a problem please do not hesitate to contact us. Anyone who would like to change sessions during the pool closure please let Fiona or your coach know, so we can advise on the best session/s to attend.
